Conceptualization of Bioreactor Landfill Approach for Sustainable Waste Management in Karachi, Pakistan

Finding a sustainable approach for municipal solid waste (MSW) management is becoming paramount. However, as with many urban areas in developing countries, the applied to MSW Karachi neither environmentally nor suitable public health. Due adoption of an inefficient system, society paying intangible costs such damage health and environment quality. In order minimize environmental impacts issues associated practices, disposal strategy required. The aim this paper present concept development new bioreactor landfills Karachi. Furthermore, contributes estimation methane (CH4) emissions from sites by employing First Order Decay (FOD) Tier 2 model Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) determining biodegradation rate constant (k) value. design operational formulated study area, including land requirement, production, power generation, liquid required recirculation, along preliminary sketch proposed landfill. This will be helpful stockholders, policy makers, researchers planning, development, further research establishment landfill facilities, particularly area well more generally regions similar climate composition.
